Caltrans District 7 Headquarters

When then-California Gov. Gray Davis sought to build an architecturally significant building for the Caltrans headquarters in downtown Los Angeles’ civic center, he called Eli Broad. Broad organized an architectural competition, and when the winning design came in over budget, The Eli and Edythe Broad Foundation contributed $2 million to finish Thom Mayne’s innovative design.
