Asked to support the renovation of an on-campus art museum at his alma mater Michigan State University, Eli Broad encouraged the university president to think bigger. The result was an architectural competition, the selection of Pritzker Prize-winning architect Zaha Hadid and a striking, pleated steel museum that stands at the edge of campus, bridging the university with its East Lansing community and the past with the future. The Broad Foundation invested $33 million in the design and construction of the museum and an exhibition endowment, as well as contributing significant gifts of art.
