TIME Magazine Names Eli Broad One of Most Influential People in World

LOS ANGELES, April 21, 2016—Eli Broad was named today to the 2016 TIME 100, the magazine’s annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world. Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg authored a tribute to Broad for his accomplishments in business and philanthropy.

Bloomberg notes Broad founded two Fortune 500 companies—KB Home and SunAmerica—and has worked to improve public schools, advance scientific and medical research, and “helped spur an artistic renaissance in Los Angeles.”

“It’s hard to say whether Eli has done more good for the world through his work in business or philanthropy—and that’s saying an awful lot about both,” Bloomberg writes.

The full list and related tributes is online and will appear in the May 2 issue of TIME, available on newsstands on Friday, April 22.

Additionally, earlier this week Edythe Broad was named to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, which recognizes the world’s most accomplished scholars, scientists, writers, artists, philanthropists, civic and business leaders. Eli Broad was inducted into the academy in 2001.
